Creative Work
This piece of artwork is part of my year 12 collection of oil paintings titled 'iVanitas''.'The painting portrays the idea that the presence of inanimate objects such as technological devices have been increasingly demanded by humans to keep up with the social standards of this modern society. This appropriation of Pieter Claesz's 'Still life with silver and Lobster pot' in the 1600's therefore contrasts between the olden days where food such as lobster and fruits were classified as delicacies and now are replaced with a plastic table decoration of a lobster and an iPad.
Great Piece of Architecture
Kuala Lumpur Train Station
I chose the Kuala Lumpur Train Station as every couple of years i visit my family in Malaysia and walk past this historical piece of architecture I am amazed by not only its intricacy and detail but the fact that its is in the middle of metropolitan Kuala Lumpur surrounded by various contemporary styled buildings and still captures my attention. This piece of architecture embodies the style of both western and eastern influences which combine and compliment each other to construct this great piece of architecture which still functions for its purpose since its completion and start of operation over a century ago.
Original Photo
This photo was taken over 3 years ago when i travelled to Japan with my high school when we visited the Zen Buddhist Temple 'Rokuon-ji'. This is one of my favourite photos as it features the golden pavilion enclosed by a serene environment where it is surrounded by greenery and reflected onto the clear and pristine waters that border the estate. The reflection highlights the peaceful environment that allows the gradual immersion into the tranquility of this environment.
